The Magic of Opera, presented by Opera Mississippi, will feature selections of the most beautiful, powerful, emotional, and “magical” music ever written, performed by some of America’s outstanding young operatic singers. Transporting you to a different time and place with their spectacular, powerful singing, the vocal artists will light up the stage with arias and ensembles by Mozart, Rossini, Bellini, Puccini, Bizet, Strauss, and many more.

Beginning in Florence, Italy in 1598, the musical art form of opera has continued to flourish and amaze audiences for over 400 years. With a significant presence in every musical era in history, opera covers the full range of the human condition from dramatic tragedy to hilarious comedy. Opera is truly the NFL of singing, with larger-than-life performances and dramatic outcomes that leave spectators on the edge of their seats.

Experience the music, the magic and the moment with professional performers and members of the Opera Mississippi Orchestra at this enchanting evening, held at the Belhaven Center for Performing Arts.

The Magic of Opera stars include Patrick McNally (baritone), Eric Botto (tenor), Bridget Cappel (mezzo-soprano), Tjaden Cox (soprano), Hosea Grittifh (bass-baritone), Tony Offerle (bass baritone), Maryann Kyle (soprano), and Stacey Trenteseaux (soprano). These outstanding operatic performers come from Nebraska, Colorado, Alabama, Virginia, Florida, Texas, and of course... Mississippi! The production is directed by Carroll Freeman and conducted by Jay Dean.
